I am a descendant of John Emery, born 1598 in Romsey, England. I have copies of original birth, death, and marriage from Romsey. I am looking for info about our family circa 1635, Newbury, MA. I am trying to track down original records for ancestors of this time period.

We have a published Book of Emery that covers the Emery line from 1635 to 1800. I am looking for information regarding the ancestry in England prior to John Emery of Romsey. There apparently is an Emmerick sp? listed in the Domesday Book. Thanks.

Has anyone found any information on John and Anthony's ancestors before they came to America?? I dont know where to search next. Any tips? (Also I found a wonderful book just full of Emery info. The History of the town of Monroe New Hampshire, which can be acquired from the town clerks office there for 25.00.) Anyway please do keep me informed. Oh also on the marriages of John Emery (1598) I have some questions regarding just exactly how many marriages there were. I believe that Alice Grantham was first(date?) then Mary Shatswell Webster widow of John Webster, however I wonder if there was a third marriage. The children's birthdates lead me to believe this. Mary would have been too old to have some of these children. Could Hannah, John, and Stephen possibly been John and Alices grandchildren instead of their children? I also believe that Jonathan was Marys only child. that is my line.

My husband is a direct descendant of both John and Anthony. His mother's maiden name was Emery (John's line) and his father is a descendant of Anthony. I have been able to trace both lines using a copy of the book, "Genealogical Records of Descendants of John and Anthony Emery of Newbury, Mass. 1590-1890" compiled by Rev. Rufus Emery printed in 1891 by The Salem Press. I have also found the following on the parents and grandparents of John and Anthony:
