Jonathan Emery

Jonathan Emery was born about 1805 in London, Middlesex, England, and married about 1826 in England to Sarah Walker. Jonathan died Jan 10, 1883 in Eden, Lamoille, Co,. VT and was buried there. They had 9 children as follows:

bulletMary was born about 1849/1850 and married Nov. 29 1868 in VT.

There is little information on Mary, but the rest is from George. George married Mary Belle Carter Dec. 10, 1849 in Frankfort, Waldo Co., Maine He died Sep. 15, 1864 in Andersonville Prison, Sumter Co., GA. Mary Belle died Jan 28, 1910. They had six children, as follows:

George fought in the Civil War, was captured in Virginia, and subsequently died in Andersonville Prison. He is buried in a common grave and has no headstone.  His youngest son, Martin Emery,  was the main character in a true children's book "Martin and Abraham Lincoln" written and published in 1946.
